Clara Nell Sear Reader Postcard Sent To Frances Goodacre Willoughby On The Wolds 22 1909 (3)

This is the third and final postcard from Clara. Again she has written to Frances and we learn a bit more about Clara and what she did, along with a information taken from her obituary that was printed in the Loughborough echo on 17th March 1950.

Dearest Friend

Another disappointment, the weather is really most provoking. I am afraid I shall have to give it up for this week unless considerable change takes place for Friday. Cannot ? (Illegible word) for Thursday as it is G hack’s night also teachers instruction class and as I have such large classes on Sunday I must get what assistance I can.

Hope you are quite well with fond love from Clara

From postcard two and three we read that Clara cycles everywhere and she cycles out of town from Loughborough to Willoughby On The Wolds. After checking, this is a 45 min cycle ride.

She mentions teaching and also taking large classes on a Sunday.  Her obituary states that she taught at 3 schools. One of which was Emmanuel Boys & Girls Schools. When she retired she became the manager of the school.  Bible classes were provided by her at St Peters Church on Storer Road in Loughborough.  She was a member of the All Saints Parish Church where her father was a bell ringer

At Longliffe Golf club she was a former member.

Many people had stated that she was likeable and had many friends

She was not buried in Loughborough, but instead in Bletchley Buckinghamshire where her parents are originally from and also buried.

I think you will agree that after reading all the postcards and her obituary, we have managed to come to know Clara better.

Clara, I hope that you know we have remembered you by your words and the kind acts that you gave to others by being a good friend and teacher

Clara Nell Sear Reader we remember you x
